Web Design & Frontend Development — Suroboyo.org

Local Media Website · Culture & Community · Surabaya · Design + Dev

A visually striking web design and frontend development project for Suroboyo.org — a local cultural media platform dedicated to Surabaya's people, stories, and identity.

The hero is the design's defining statement: a full-bleed, high-contrast black and white documentary photograph of an elderly Javanese woman applying makeup — her face weathered, her gesture deliberate, her expression entirely focused. The caption reads "Kami Tak Akan Pernah Menua" (We Will Never Grow Old) — a poetic, defiant line that frames the platform's editorial voice: this is media that finds dignity and beauty in the overlooked and the aging, in the city's true inhabitants rather than its skyline.

The monochrome photography treatment is not minimalism for its own sake — it is an editorial choice that communicates the platform's commitment to human stories over spectacle. The "S" logomark in white against the dark header is minimal and typographic, letting the content carry the identity.

The "Lanjut Baca" (Continue Reading) CTA confirms an article and long-form content structure — a publication built for readers who stay, not just scrollers who pass through.

A local media website that treats Surabaya as a subject worthy of the same depth and craft as any national publication — because it is.
