Uneg-Uneg T-shirt

One figure, a flood of bubbles, and the quiet relief of letting it all go — Uneg-Uneg is the t-shirt design that turns unexpressed feelings into a visual exhale.

T-Shirt Design — Uneg-Uneg

Apparel Design · Conceptual Illustration · Personal Expression

A deeply conceptual t-shirt design built around one of the most distinctly Indonesian emotional concepts: "uneg-uneg" — the feeling of having something unspoken, unsaid, or pent-up inside that needs to be released. The word has no direct English equivalent, which makes this illustration's task all the more impressive: to translate a nuanced emotional state into pure visual form, on a shirt, in black and white.

The composition is stark and powerful. A small silhouetted human figure stands in the lower center of the tee, one arm raised — and from that raised hand, a torrent of concentric circles erupts upward and outward across the chest and shoulders of the shirt. The circles vary in size from tiny dots to large target-like rings, densest at the mass and dispersing as they spread — a visual representation of something held inside finally finding its way out, expanding as it goes, filling the space it was always meant to occupy.

The imagery draws from the visual language of sound waves, thought bubbles, and release — all appropriate metaphors for uneg-uneg. The black-on-white execution strips the concept to its essence: no color distraction, no decorative noise, just the idea itself made visible. The typographic element at the figure's base — "put all your uneg-uneg" — anchors the concept in text, but the illustration would communicate its meaning even without a single word.

Presented as a hanging poster mockup against a black background, the white tee glows — making the design's stark contrast even more dramatic.

A wearable philosophy — for everyone who has ever had something to say and needed a shirt to say it first.
