Liputan 6

Latest, Popular, breaking ticker at the top — the Liputan 6 app redesign gives one of Indonesia's most trusted news brands a dark, focused reading experience built for the way Indonesians actually consume news today.

App UI Design — Liputan 6

News App Redesign · Indonesia · Mobile UI

A dark-mode news app UI design for Liputan 6 — one of Indonesia's most widely read digital news platforms under the EMTEK media group — delivering a cleaner, more focused reading experience that respects the content and the reader's attention.

The news feed screen establishes the redesign's core direction immediately: a dark charcoal background reduces eye strain for users reading through news during commutes, evenings, or late nights — a significant usability improvement over the original lighter interface. The orange Liputan 6 brand color is preserved as the sole accent, appearing on the category tab indicator, the breaking news ticker badge, the trending/fire button, and the bottom navigation logo — a disciplined use of brand color that maintains recognition while letting the content breathe.

The top navigation offers two primary modes: "Terkini" (Latest) and "Terpopuler" (Most Popular) — the two reading modes that capture the majority of news app usage — with a "Lihat Lainnya" (See More) category dropdown and a search icon keeping additional options accessible without cluttering the primary flow.

A scrolling "Headline Hari Ini" (Today's Headlines) breaking news ticker runs below the tabs — "Hadapi Corona Covid-19 Dengan So..." — the urgent, timely content format that drives habitual daily opens.

The article card list is clean and scannable: thumbnail left, headline right, timestamp below — the optimal mobile news card format with none of the advertising and promotional noise that often clutters news app feeds.

The bottom tab bar — Home, Bookmarks, Liputan 6 central logo, Trending, Account — is minimal and purposeful.

A redesign that puts the news back at the center of a news app.
