Gelin

Cheerful, agile, and impossible not to love — Gelin is the mascot that makes learning feel like play, built in Adobe Illustrator and brought to life in Adobe Flash.

Character Design — Gelin

Interactive Learning Media Mascot · College Project · Adobe Illustrator + Adobe Flash

A delightful mascot character created during college for an interactive learning media project — introducing Gelin, whose name is an acronym for Gembira & Lincah (Cheerful & Agile), a name that captures the character's personality in its entirety before a single pixel is seen.

The character is a young girl in an oversized pink bunny onesie — wide-eyed, button-nosed, one hand raised in a friendly wave — designed to guide young learners through educational content with warmth, energy, and zero intimidation. The anime-influenced art style is a deliberate choice: soft rounded forms, large expressive brown eyes, rosy cheeks, and a slightly mischievous raised eyebrow that hints at a character full of personality beyond the greeting pose. The bunny hood with its round ears adds a layer of costume playfulness, making Gelin instantly memorable as a visual anchor within the learning interface.

The accompanying logomark — a bold yellow shield badge on chocolate brown, with "GELIN" in a chunky rounded display typeface and the tagline "GEMBIRA & LINCAH" beneath — grounds the character in a strong, badge-like brand identity. The shield communicates protection and reliability; the warm yellow-brown palette communicates energy and friendliness without aggression.

Built in Adobe Illustrator for vector precision and Adobe Flash for animation and interactivity, this project represents an early convergence of character design, brand identity, and interactive media thinking — skills that have only grown deeper in the years since.

A mascot that proves the best teachers — even digital ones — lead with joy.
