Hippo Team

Every great mentoring group has a story — and the Hippo Team's starts with a mentor who loves hippos so much, one ended up in the illustration.

Illustration Design — Hippo Team

Mentoring Group Mascot · Tokopedia Trainee Program

A warmly personal group illustration created during the Tokopedia Trainee Program — capturing the Hippo Team mentoring group in full character, complete with the detail that makes this piece genuinely one-of-a-kind: a tiny purple hippo perched on the mentor's shoulder, waving cheerfully at the viewer.

The story behind the hippo is the heart of the illustration — the mentor's well-known love of hippos became the group's identity, the source of its name, and ultimately its mascot. The result is a piece of design that isn't just a team badge; it's a memory, a private joke made permanent, a shared reference that will make every member of the group smile for years after the program ends.

The mentor is rendered at the top center — long dark hair, a charming straw hat, peace sign raised — the figure of warmth and guidance around whom the group orbits. The three mentees cluster below: a green-cap-wearing trainee with a notebook and pen (the documenter), a wide-eyed mentee with a fork and spoon (the foodie of the group, perhaps), and a third holding a bicycle wheel (the cyclist). Each prop is a character detail — a nod to the real personalities in the group, encoded into the illustration with affection.

The "HIPPO TEAM — Mentoring Group" banner at the base is set in a bold, friendly display typeface on a forest green ribbon, framed by leaf elements that give the badge a natural, club-crest quality.

An illustration that captures something rare in professional design work — a genuine relationship, rendered with craft and care.
